I grew up playing under my mom's drawing board while she worked on newspaper
ads and magazine paste-ups, so it seemed natural to gravitate toward
the design field.
When I left Austin to attend the University of North Texas, I got my
first Mac computer and started a typing service. I then started experimenting
with a page layout program, and I was hooked!
After graduating from college, I worked for 5 years as a designer at
Persidea, a full-service design firm, where I learned the nuts and bolts
of design, production, printing and electronic file

preparation. During this time
I became highly proficient in industry-standard programs such as QuarkXpress
and Adobe programs -- Illustrator, Photoshop and more recently, InDesign.
Becoming a freelance designer in 1999 gave me the opportunity to pursue
a variety of clients and projects, and I'm currently the advertising art
director for Texas Music and Horns Illustrated magazines, as well as the
ACL Music Fest Official Program.
In 2004, my mom and I combined my focus on print media and logos with
her prowess in web design and formed Firefly Creatives, LLC. |

I love creating and organizing -- web design gives me the opportunity
to do both!
After earning a degree in Commercial Art, I worked at a variety of jobs,
including fashion illustrator, advertising artist for a national jewelry
chain, art director for an advertising agency, newspaper ad sales and
graphic designer for a major oil corporation.
Upon moving to Austin in 1973, I began freelancing and made the transition
to designing on the computer in 1987.
Seeking to become more proficient led me to advanced classes in

computers, web design, html and software such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop
and Illustrator.
Combining forces with my daughter, Alyson, has been a winning combination
-- it allows us to create seamless marketing via print and web for our
clients.
